  I vacillated between never breeding her again, and wanting to do that shit over and over. She looked happy, tired and weak as my second daughter came into the world. I had two of each now, maybe that would be enough.

  After she was done and they’d cleaned her up I was still in a daze but joy was beginning to seep in. I held those two little beings in my arms and took them to her with more love than I ever thought possible coursing through me.

  I couldn’t speak so just laid them in her arms and watched them as my whole world came into focus. “How are you feeling baby?” I had to clear the frog from my throat and sit my ass down before I fell. I’ve never seen anything like it.

  “Next time you tell me how weak you are because of your past, I’ll remind you of this. Nothing that’s weak can do what you just did baby. I’m in awe.” I was probably fucking shit up for men everywhere but what the fuck. My baby did good. She was beaming from ear to ear.

  ‘The good thing is, I only have to do it twice more. But if they keep coming in pairs I might get away with once.” I was shaking my head before she was through. “I’m good, we’re square.” Fuck if I was going through that shit again. She laughed and my son opened and closed his mouth looking for the tit.

  I took my little angel so her mom could feed her brother and watched as he latched on and wen to town. Like father like son. I held my daughter close and watched my wife’s face. “How are you so beautiful after that shit baby?” And will there ever be a time that I don’t have this burning need in me for her?

  As the seconds and minutes went by the idea of planting a couple more in her was starting to look better and better. She hummed to the baby and ran her hand over his head. “He looks like you sweetie.” No, he looks like a wrinkled old man. I just smiled and pretended that I could actually make out anything there but wrinkles and peeling skin.

  As I sat there and the adrenaline wore off life came crashing back in. Fuck, how am I going to protect three females? At least I had my sons to help me out later, but they needed me now too. Fuck Kevin, what a bitch get your shit together.

  My daughter chose that moment to open her eyes and look dead at me, as if to say ‘you can do it dad.’ Damn straight, I got this. First order of business. Male repellant; then a higher wall around the perimeter, more bullets, and the list goes on. “She smiled at me.” My daughter smiled at me. Damn, I never knew there could be so much love in one person. My heart was full and if she wasn’t already mine I would’ve married her again.

  Angel started to fuss and we switched. I held my son and silently promised that I’d always be there. Me, and his brother. We spoke softly over the babies’ heads making plans, talking about the new family vehicle that should be ready soon. Regular shit! I was amazed. I’ve seen grown men who got grazed by a bullet act like more of a bitch. Like Tyson and his bitch ass.

  “I think we better let the others in I hear Sandy’s mouth.” She did some shit with her hair and brushed the front of her gown and I passed her my son so that she now held them both of them again. She sniffed their heads and the doors opened letting in the family.

  I got shoved out of the way while my sister and half my damn employees took over. I passed out cigars to the guys in the outer room and felt that tightness around my chest finally ease. I saw a strange woman standing in the background looking nervous as hell and didn’t need an introduction to tell me who she was. Her daughter was her spitting image.

  She came forward with her head bent as if expecting a blow. I waited arms folded for her to reach me. “I guess you know who I am. I’m sorry to show up here without permission. Sandy called. I asked her to.” She lifted her head and there was such sadness in her eyes.

  “Go meet your grandbabies.” She looked like I’d just given her the key to life and bounded past me into the room where these people were making enough noise to get us kicked out of the joint.

  I knew Julie would be happy to see her mom. They hadn’t seen each other since she refused to see her dad and he refused to let her see her mom, who it turns out knew nothing about her kid being sold to the highest bidder.

  I wasn’t sure how she happened to get away to come here tonight, but if it turned out bad for her I have no problem putting a hurting on his ass. If my girl is happy to see her mom then that’s what the fuck’s gonna happen.

  We haven’t seen nor heard from the asshole since my little visit. Last I heard his dad had got him another job somewhere and he was already up to his old tricks. I didn’t care one ass what that fucker did.

  My kids never mentions him and my wife knows better. They’re happy, healthy and loved. My princess came out the room looking for her daddy. She’s been having some kinda abandonment issues and I can’t be out of her sight for too long.

  I picked her up and let her put her head on my shoulder. “Did you meet your brother and sister?”

  “Yeah they’re tiny daddy. I’m gonna have to take care of them.” That’s my girl.

  “That’s right princess and your little brother too.” She turned up her nose. She was at that stage where females hate anything male, except her daddy and her uncle Ty of course, but we’ll work on that.

  Dylan came looking for me next looking war worn like he was the one who’d just gone through that shit. This kid takes the world on his shoulder but I couldn’t fault him. I’m the one who’s been teaching him that the women in our lives must be taken care of at all cost.

  “How’re you doing big brother?” He got a big smile on his face and came in for a hug. There was no uneasiness between us anymore, hadn’t been for a long time.

  “They’re tiny dad I don’t know. You think Gunner’s gonna like them?” Fucking mutt will go nuts.

  “Sure he will son. Just like he loves you and your sister.”

  I checked my watch. An hour had gone by. Time to get everyone out so my woman could get some rest. I walked back into the room where she was starting to look wilted. “Alright everybody out. Sandy the kids’ bags are in the truck.” She was taking them home with her for the night while I stayed here keeping watch over Julie and the babies.

  They straggled out leaving me with my little family and I got to spend some time with my kids before they put them down for the night. I climbed into bed with her and held her sore body close. “Sleep baby I’m right here.” She cuddled into me and sighed.

  “I love you Kevin. I never get tired of hearing that shit. And even on a day like today, when she’d given me two more kids to love, nothing meant more. “I love you more.”
